Cooking with Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil has been called the healthiest dietary oil on earth. Our virgin coconut oil makes an excellent cooking oil which enhances the flavor of many foods. It has a smoke point of 350 – 400 degrees (temperature when the oil begins to break down and become unhealthy) which is higher then any other oil. As a healthy saturated oil, high in MCT’s, it is extremely stable with a shelf life of up to five years.  Most vegetable oils will go rancid after a year or so.

Coconut oil can be substituted for margarine, butter or shortening in baking. It is particularly good when used in cookies, breads, muffins and cakes. It also works well as an oil for salad dressings and is an excellent spread on toast with honey, on top of pancakes or waffles in place of butter with syrup (tastes like coconut syrup), or in place of butter in hot cereal or oatmeal.
